Welcome to the new TRISP blog! We’re excited to use this new forum to share ideas with you about TRISP and Intersubjective Self Psychology, and to create dialogue among those in our community. And that’s just the beginning…
For those of you who are new to TRISP, some history. TRISP opened its doors in 1987 with our four-year training program in Intersubjective Self Psychology and over the course of the last 25 years TRISP has brought forth 10 generations of psychoanalytic self psychologists. In 2006 we added a one-year introductory course in Intersubjective Self Psychology, two one-year psychotherapy training programs in Intersubjective Self Psychology, and started a workshop and continuing education series, entitled: Intersubjective Self Psychology in Action: How We Work. We have courses designed for newcomers to self psychology as well as continuing education opportunities for psychotherapists and psychoanalysts in practice. All this is well established.
But today, something new – today we mark a new moment in our history! We have opened our doors to the world of social media. We have a Facebook page (link), a profile on LinkedIn (link) and of course the very blog you are reading. And if you are reading this you may have noticed our fresh new website (link). Our updated web presence will make it easy for us to stay connected with each other and to keep each other informed about what’s going on in the world of self psychology and TRISP. We look forward to our new online community where we can all come together, share ideas , and feel connected with TRISP no matter where we are.
Here’s how you can be part of the action:
- Join in the conversations on self psychology and related topics that are of interest to all of us!
- Become a fan of TRISP on Facebook!
- Connect your LinkedIn profile to TRISP’s!
- And of course come to a workshop, or check out our course offerings.
In all these ways we can stay connected and get you the latest updates on what is going on in the TRISP community. Welcome aboard and join in the conversation!
It was such a pleasure to see so many of you at our holiday party last night. Old friendships were renewed, existing ones were deepened and new ones were forged. A sense of camaraderie prevailed among all of us and we were merry!
The launch of our new website and social media presence was successful.
If you have not done so already, check us out on Facebook and click “like” and rave about us or something like that!
With all of us joining in on the conversation we are sure to go, like, viral! Lol!
(In case you were wondering, or concerned about my metal state, I am trying to get up to speed on the Facebook lingo ;-).)
As for the party food, well, we’ll freeze it for next year.
I wish everybody a wonderful holiday season, and a happy, healthy, inspired and prosperous New Year!
Peter
Yes, indeed, it was a great celebration and an auspicious launch to our new web presence. Wonderful to see everyone. Wonderful to feel such positive spirit. Wonderful to be a part of TRISP’s evolution. Cheers to TRISP-on-the-web. And cheers to all for the holidays!
The turnout for the holiday party was terrific, especially since nobody knew in advance that I was going to do my oft-requested impersonation of Heinz Kohut singing “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.”
Gordon, I will come next year if you promise to sing it again.
Angelica
Angelica, I have a year to rehearse. No problem!
Gordon

Yes, I like it.
When are you going to post again? You really entertain me!
Looking forward to tonight’s presentation about Intersubjective Self psychology, a case presented by Gordon Powell and discussed by Peter Zimmerman.
