Intersubjective Self Psychology in Action – What does it look like? TRISP presents illustrative cases as practiced by two graduates of TRISP’s Advanced Program in Intersubjective Self Psychology (ISP). In particular, the cases presented will illustrate the process of rupture and repair within the model of ISP. David Ciesla presents an example of a treatment highlighted by a rupture – a treatment in which understanding of both patient and therapist’s trailing-edge despair made room for the emergence of a generative, leading-edge transference of hope in treatment. Sara Wilken presents her work with a pre-adolescent patient – a treatment in which the therapist’s trailing edge initially contributed to discounting the patient’s meaningful selfobject tie to her. Understanding the inevitable ruptures through the lens of ISP, therapist and patient together discovered a world of shared, generative selfobject vitality. TRISP faculty George Hagman and Aviva Rohde will offer brief discussions of the cases presented and we’ll welcome the comments and questions from all who attend. Please join us!
